Easy Creamy Overnight Oats

Basic Ingredients: 1/2 cup rolled oats (may also be called old fashioned or whole oats)

1/2 cup soy milk (or other plant based milk)

1 teaspoon maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)

Optional Ingredients: 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon peanut butter

1/2 ripe banana, mashed

1/4 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon raisins

Fresh berries

Chopped banana

Directions:

You’ll need a container with a lid. If you have a glass jar, that is ideal. You can also use a bowl and place a saucer on top of the bowl.

Add the oats to the container first, then pour in the milk and add in the peanut butter, cinnamon and maple syrup, etc. Mix the ingredients together until the peanut butter (if using) has been evenly added to the oat mixture. Make sure all of the oats are submerged in the milk. Seal the lid, and place the oats in the refrigerator.

The next morning, sprinkle in fruit or eat alone. If you don’t like cold cereal, microwave the oatmeal mixture for about 60 seconds, or heat it up in a small pan until it’s nice and warm. Keeps in the fridge for about 5 days.

Good to Know:

Having your oatmeal ready will help your morning go a little more smoothly. You’ll start your day off in a healthy and filling way. When I’m ready to prepare the oatmeal, I usually ask family members who wants some and then make as many as we need. This is an easy way to cater to different likes and tastes since you can customize the ingredients based on who wants it.

Overnight oats offer a range of health benefits, due to their rich fiber and protein content. They also contain a number of vitamins and minerals, some of which include manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. This makes overnight oats healthy for your gut, as well as for overall health and well-being.
